The Race tab is where you compete in NexRex. It brings together the race challenge NexRex is currently featuring, the races you’re training for, the global distance leaderboard, and your team competitions. Every race has its own page with an info tab, a leaderboard, and a feed of runs from other runners. Use it to see how your training stacks up, join a campaign challenge before your goal race, and cheer for runners around you on the board.

The Race tab

Open the Race tab to see four sections:
  • Featured challenge: the race challenge that is live now, or the next one to start if none is live. The card shows the challenge status: Starting soon, Live · Week N/M, or Final results. It also shows your rank once you’ve joined. Tap Join challenge to enter, or Enter challenge to open a challenge you’ve already joined.
  • My races: the races you’ve added as goals, with a countdown to race day. Races with a challenge show when the leaderboard opens. Tap a race to open its race page. Tap Explore races to find your next one.
  • Global leaderboard: a preview of the global distance ranking. Switch between This week and This month, and tap View full ranking to see the whole board. Your own row is labeled You and shows how you compare with the last period.
  • Team competitions: official team competitions you’re entered in, with the days left or Ended. Tap a team to see who contributed. See Competition results for how team standings work.
The featured challenge also appears as the hero of the Races tab in Explore, so every runner sees the same live challenge.

Race cards on Home

The Home screen shows a horizontal strip of race cards under My races:
  1. The featured challenge card. Tap it to join, or to open the race page once you’re in.
  2. One card per goal race, with its A or B priority, date, distance, and countdown. Your A race also shows your monthly distance progress. Tap the promote button on a B race to make it your A race.
  3. An Explore races card that opens the race search.
If you have no goal races yet, a setup card takes you to goal setting instead.

The race page

Tap a race anywhere in the app to open its race page. The race name and a share button sit at the top. The page has three tabs and opens on Leaderboard.

Race info

Race info collects the facts about the race and its challenge:
  • Status: Starting soon, Challenge in progress · Week N / M, or Results finalized.
  • Awards: the prize card for a campaign challenge, listing the prize for each rank range. Tap Rules and prize details for the full terms.
  • Race facts: date, location, distances, the Challenge period, and how many runners have joined. Once you’ve joined, it also shows your rank.
  • Schedule: a timeline of the challenge, from when distance starts counting to when the event is archived. A Now marker shows the current week and the days left to log distance.
Tap Full race details for the complete race listing.

Leaderboard

Leaderboard ranks everyone who has joined the race by distance run during the challenge. See Leaderboard rows for what each row shows and Cheer for a runner for how to cheer. For campaign challenges, the leaderboard also shows the challenge phase and your position:
  • Before the start, a countdown shows when the challenge begins.
  • While the challenge is live, Your rank shows your position and how much farther you need to run to pass the runner ahead, for example “Run 3.2 km more to pass #14”. If you haven’t run yet, it reads Log a run to get on the board.
  • After the board freezes, the page shows the final podium and your final rank.

Runners

Runners is a feed of recent runs by runners in this race, newest first. Only runs completed during the challenge period appear. Use the filter chips to change whose runs you see: Your own runs appear under every filter. Each post shows the runner’s current rank, the workout type, and the challenge week with the distance it added, for example “Challenge week 3 · +12.4 km”. Below that are the run’s distance, time, and pace, plus the route map and any photos.
  • Tap the cheer button to cheer a run. Tap it again to remove your cheer.
  • Tap the comment button to open the run’s comments and add your own.
  • Tap the share button to share the run.
  • Tap the post to open the runner’s profile.
Each runner’s privacy settings decide what you see. A run appears only if its owner shares activities with you, and pace appears only if they share pace with you. If no runs are visible yet, the feed shows No runs to show yet.

How a campaign challenge works

A campaign challenge is a distance competition in the weeks before a race. Only runs count, and runners are ranked by total distance.
1

Join the challenge

Tap Join challenge on the featured challenge card in the Race tab or on Home. NexRex opens the race page once you’ve joined. You can join before the challenge starts. Training you log before the start still appears in your plan, but only distance from the start date counts toward the ranking.
2

Run during the scoring window

Scoring runs from the day the leaderboard opens until the board freezes. Every run you sync in that window adds to your total. The challenge is split into weeks counted from the start date, and the leaderboard shows Week N of M.
3

The board freezes for taper week

The leaderboard freezes at midnight, in the race’s timezone, 6 days before race day. Runs after the freeze don’t count, so you can taper without losing your place. NexRex announces the final results at the freeze. During taper week, the board shows Taper week · leaderboard frozen.
4

Final results

The final standings stay on the race page through race day. The board shows Challenge ended · final ranks with the date it will be archived. If you placed in a prize range, the page shows the prize you won. Tap Share my finisher card to share your final rank.
5

Automatic archiving

NexRex archives the challenge 7 days after race day. An archived challenge shows Archived and a read-only podium. It no longer appears as the featured challenge.
All challenge dates follow the race’s timezone, not your phone’s timezone.

Leaderboard rows

The same row design is used on race leaderboards, the global leaderboard, and team competitions. Each row shows:
  • Rank and movement: your rank, with an indicator of how it changed. On race leaderboards, movement compares your rank now with your rank at the start of the current challenge week. If the board has no movement data, no indicator appears.
  • Name and avatar, with a PRO badge for subscribers.
  • Weekly distance and cheers: a line under the name such as “This week +8.4 km · ♥ 5”. The heart is filled when you’ve cheered for that runner.
  • Total: the runner’s score for the board. Your own row is highlighted.
Tap a row to open the runner’s sheet. It shows their rank and totals, and lets you cheer, View profile, or follow them.

Cheer for a runner

Cheers are a quick way to encourage someone on a leaderboard. You can’t cheer your own row.
  • Double-tap a row to send a quick cheer. A heart animates on the row. Double-tapping a runner you’ve already cheered does nothing.
  • Use the row sheet to pick a cheer: 👍, 💪, 👊, or 🎉. Tap a different one to change your cheer, or tap your current one again to remove it.
The runner gets a notification when you cheer. Cheers belong to a specific board and period. A cheer on this week’s global board doesn’t carry over to next week. To see who cheered, open a row sheet and tap the cheer count. On your own row, the sheet shows how many people cheered for you. Tap a name in the list to open that runner’s profile.

Share a race

Tap the share button at the top of a race page to share its link. Race links use the format:
When someone opens the link:
  • On a phone with NexRex installed, the race page opens in the app.
  • On a phone without the app, a web page tries to open NexRex and offers Open in NexRex, plus App Store and Google Play download links.
  • On a computer, the web page shows a QR code. Scan it with a phone to open the race in the app.
