Connecting Strava lets Astral automatically import your runs and other activities as soon as they appear in Strava, whether you recorded them on your phone, a GPS watch, or any other Strava-compatible device. You won’t need to log anything manually — Astral stays in sync in the background.

Connect your Strava account

1

Open Integrations in Astral

In the Astral app, go to SettingsIntegrations. Tap Connect next to Strava.
2

Authorize access on Strava

You’ll be taken to Strava’s website. Sign in to your Strava account if prompted, then tap Authorize to grant Astral permission to read your activities and profile.
3

Return to Astral

After authorizing, Strava redirects you back to Astral. You’ll see a confirmation that Strava is now connected.
4

Wait for your history to import

Astral automatically imports up to two months of your recent Strava activities in the background. This usually takes a few minutes. New activities you record will appear in Astral shortly after they sync to Strava.
The history import runs once when you first connect. If you connected a different integration (Garmin or Apple Health) before Strava, the backfill may be skipped to avoid importing the same runs twice.

What gets synced

Once connected, Astral imports the following from Strava:
  • Runs and other activities — distance, duration, pace, heart rate, cadence, elevation, GPS route, and effort segments
  • Activity streams — per-second data including heart rate, speed, altitude, and GPS coordinates, used for detailed coaching analysis
Astral syncs new activities automatically via Strava webhooks — there’s nothing you need to do after a run. Activities typically appear within a few minutes of finishing your run on Strava.

Duplicate prevention

If you use both Strava and Garmin, you may record the same run in both services. Astral detects this in two ways:
  • Same activity, same source — Astral tracks each Strava activity ID and won’t import the same activity twice.
  • Cross-platform duplicates — if a Garmin activity and a Strava activity start within 60 seconds of each other and are the same type, Astral recognizes them as the same run and imports only one copy.
You won’t end up with duplicate runs in your training history.

Disconnect Strava

1

Open Integrations

In the Astral app, go to SettingsIntegrations.
2

Disconnect

Tap Disconnect next to Strava. Astral will revoke its access with Strava and remove your stored credentials.
Disconnecting stops future syncing. Activities already imported into Astral are not deleted.

Troubleshooting

Activities aren’t appearing in Astral
  • Make sure your Strava activities are set to public or followers-only visibility. Activities set to “Only You” may not be accessible.
  • Check that the Strava connection is still active under SettingsIntegrations. If it shows as disconnected, re-authorize.
  • New activities typically sync within a few minutes. If it’s been more than 30 minutes, try disconnecting and reconnecting Strava.
I got an error when trying to connect
  • Make sure you’re signed in to the correct Strava account before authorizing.
  • If you tapped Cancel on the Strava authorization screen, the connection wasn’t established. Tap Connect in Astral again.
  • If you see a generic error after being redirected back to Astral, try again. If the problem persists, contact support.
Some old activities are missing The initial backfill imports up to two months of history. Older activities won’t be imported automatically. If you need to import a specific older activity, you can log it manually in Astral or contact support.
