Connecting Garmin lets Astral receive your activities directly from Garmin Connect. Every run you complete with a Garmin device — whether a forerunner, Fenix, or any other GPS watch — flows automatically into Astral without any manual steps.

Connect your Garmin account

1

Open Integrations in Astral

In the Astral app, go to SettingsIntegrations. Tap Connect next to Garmin.
2

Sign in to Garmin Connect

You’ll be taken to Garmin’s authorization page. Sign in with your Garmin account credentials.
3

Authorize Astral

Review the permissions and tap Agree and Continue to allow Astral to receive your activity data from Garmin Connect.
4

Return to Astral

Garmin redirects you back to Astral. You’ll see a confirmation that your Garmin account is now connected.
5

Wait for your history to import

Astral imports up to two months of your recent Garmin activities in the background. New activities from your device will arrive automatically going forward.
The history import runs once when you first connect. If you already connected Strava before Garmin, the Garmin backfill may be skipped to avoid importing duplicate runs.

What gets synced

After connecting, Astral receives your running activities from Garmin, including:
  • Distance, duration, and pace
  • Heart rate (average and per-second stream if available)
  • Cadence and elevation
  • GPS route data
  • Activity type — Astral syncs runs recorded as running, trail running, track running, treadmill running, indoor running, and similar activity types
Garmin pushes activity data to Astral automatically after your device syncs to Garmin Connect. You don’t need to open Astral — the data arrives in the background, typically within a few minutes of syncing your watch.

How Garmin sync works

Unlike Strava, where Astral fetches your activities, Garmin uses a push model: Garmin Connect sends your activity data to Astral automatically as soon as your device syncs. This means:
  • Sync your watch to the Garmin Connect app (or to your computer via Garmin Express) as you normally would.
  • Astral receives the data from Garmin shortly after.
  • No manual action is needed in Astral.
If you use both Garmin and Strava with auto-upload enabled, Astral deduplicates across both sources. You’ll see each run only once.

Disconnect Garmin

1

Open Integrations

In the Astral app, go to SettingsIntegrations.
2

Disconnect

Tap Disconnect next to Garmin. Astral will remove your stored credentials and stop receiving data from Garmin Connect.
Disconnecting stops future syncing. Activities already imported into Astral are not deleted.

Troubleshooting

Activities aren’t appearing after syncing my watch
  • Make sure your watch has synced to the Garmin Connect app. Open Garmin Connect and confirm the activity appears there first.
  • Check that your Garmin connection is still active under SettingsIntegrations. If it shows as disconnected, re-authorize.
  • It can take a few minutes for the activity to arrive in Astral after syncing to Garmin Connect. Wait a moment and refresh.
I got an error when trying to connect
  • Make sure you’re signed in to the correct Garmin account.
  • If you denied access on the Garmin authorization page, the connection wasn’t established. Tap Connect in Astral to try again.
  • If you’re reconnecting an account that was previously linked to a different Astral profile, the old connection is automatically cleared when you connect to your current account.
Some older activities are missing The initial import covers up to two months of history. Activities older than two months won’t be imported automatically. Contact support if you need help importing specific older activities.
