# Following and safety

> Follow other runners, manage follow requests, and block or report users.

Follow other runners to see what they share with their followers. Depending on
their privacy settings, following someone can unlock their training, pace, and
other data that isn't visible to everyone.

## Follow a runner

You'll find the **Follow** button on a runner's profile and in the leaderboard
row sheet, next to **View profile**. The button shows your current
relationship with that runner:

| Button | What it means | Tap to |
| - | - | - |
| **Follow** | You don't follow this runner. | Follow them, or send a follow request if their account requires approval. |
| **Follow back** | This runner follows you, but you don't follow them. | Follow them back. |
| **Requested** | You sent a follow request that's waiting for approval. | Cancel the request. |
| **Following** | You're an approved follower. | Unfollow them. |

Some accounts require approval before anyone can follow them. When you follow
one of these accounts, NexRex sends a follow request and the button changes to
**Requested**. You see follower-only content once the runner confirms your
request.

If you open the profile of an account that requires approval and you aren't
an approved follower, NexRex shows **Activities are for followers only** instead of
their training and pace.

  When you unfollow an account that requires approval, you'll need to send a
  new request to see its follower-only content again.

## Followers and following lists

Every profile shows **Followers** and **Following** counts. Tap a count to
open that list. You can search each list by name.

If an account requires approval for new followers, only the account owner and
their approved followers can see its lists. Anyone else sees "Only
\{name}'s followers can see this list."

Your own counts also appear on the profile card at the top of **Settings**.
Tap **Followers** or **Following** to open your lists.

## Follow requests

When someone asks to follow you, the request appears in two places:

* **Notification inbox**: tap **Confirm** directly on the follow request
  notification. Tapping the notification opens your follow requests.
* **Settings**: tap the **Follow requests** row on the profile card to see all
  pending requests.

In the requests list, tap **Confirm** to approve a request or **Decline** to
reject it.

Declining is silent. NexRex doesn't notify the requester. Their button keeps
showing **Requested**, and sending the request again does nothing. This stops
the same runner from repeatedly re-requesting after you decline.

## Remove a follower

You can remove someone from your followers without blocking them:

1. Open your **Followers** list from **Settings**, or open the runner's profile.
2. Tap the **⋯** button next to the runner, or the **⋯** menu on their profile.
3. Tap **Remove follower**.

NexRex doesn't notify the runner you removed. If your account requires
approval, they need to send a new request to follow you again.

## Block a runner

Block someone to cut off contact with them entirely. Open the **⋯** menu on
their profile, or next to their name in your follower lists, then tap
**Block** and confirm.

When you block someone:

* You stop following each other, and any pending follow requests between you
  are removed.
* They can't follow you, send you follow requests, or cheer for you.
* They can't message you, or comment on or react to your activities and posts.
  The same applies in the other direction.
* You're left out of each other's follower and following lists.
* NexRex doesn't notify the runner you blocked.

Leaderboard rankings still include both of you, so ranks stay accurate.

  Unblocking doesn't restore follows. If you unblock someone, you each need to
  follow the other again.

## Report a runner

To report a runner, open the **⋯** menu on their profile and tap **Report**.
Choose a reason:

* **Spam**
* **Harassment or bullying**
* **Pretending to be someone else**
* **Inappropriate name or photo**
* **Other**

The NexRex team reviews every report. Reporting doesn't block the runner or
notify them. Block them as well if you want to stop contact.
